Kangen Water vs ultraviolet (UV) water filter is an unequal contest in many ways. An ultraviolet (UV) unit is designed to produce portable water from sources that have micro organism contamination. This filtration is done by using ultra violet light in high dosages on the microbes. The wavelength of the UV light energy is set at 254 nanometers. Although the bulb will burn longer than that, the effectiveness in killing off the microbes drops dramatically after that length of time. You want the light working at peak efficiency in order to remove all possible organisms from the water.

You don’t need any chemicals for the UV water filter. You may want to use a micron sediment filter in line before the ultraviolet light unit. When there is sediment suspended in the water, it interferes with the effectiveness of the light in the system. By using physical filtration, the bulbs can be seen through the water more easily. Adding chemicals affects both the appearance and the taste of any treated water that you drink.
